Thank you to our friends who participated in our Plant Identification Quiz earlier in the week. Here are the names of the plants, all spotted growing in Sonoma County.
We had to include that last one — we live in wine country! We’ve got grape vines growing everywhere.

Number 5 looks like gooseberry to me. We grow red currents here and they’re much smaller fruit, think wild blueberry-sized.

Miriam: Interesting! In all fairness, they berries were actually incredibly small. The photo I took was super zoomed in.
I love your plant knowledge! Most of these were new to me before last week. :)

You say they are small, in which case I stand corrected. I guess I’ve never looked that closely at the currants when they’re under-ripe like that to see that, hey!, these look like tiny gooseberries. And this plant doesn’t seem to have thorns, which the gooseberries definitely have. Sorry for coming across as a pompous know-it-all.

Miriam: Not at all! I’m in awe of your plant sense.
