Friends, music, chickens and cats

This party was over a month ago… I’m not as behind as I thought! (HA!)

We had a bittersweet, yet lovely get together with many of David’s coworkers. We had a wonderful time and look forward to seeing these folks again soon.

She chased after these chickens for hours (literally!).

Thanks to Nancy and Dave for having us over and for most of these photos!

Meet Goose

Miss Leyba found Goose at our local independent bookstore and carried her around with us the whole time we were shopping. A few days later when we went back with friends she did the same thing, but added Goose hugs and kisses into the mix, and it was half price, so we went for it and brought Goose home.

She loves Goose.

She gives her hugs and kisses and makes David and I do the same.

She carries her around the house.

She goes “honk honk.”

Meet Goose, plus witness a whole lot of gobblety-gook and deviant super-cute behavior:

I am hoping that Miss Leyba starts to cuddle with Goose instead of us at night… wait, what am I saying?! We love cuddling with our daughter. Get this stuffed animal out of our bedroom.

Just kidding, of course.

We think Goose is a wonderful friend for Miss Leyba.

And she hasn’t brought Goose into bed.

Yet.

Yummy ice cream

On Saturday we took Miss Leyba to try her first ice cream.

(That was our cover story and we’re sticking to it!)

Initially she hated the experience of eating the ice cream, but loved the taste:

Check out that yucky face! We think she didn’t like the cold ice cream on her teeth.

Before we knew it she figured out how to LICK the ice cream instead of bite it and she was quickly all covered in chocolate:

We had so much fun eating ice cream together that we went back AGAIN today to have a little more.

We’re either the best parents ever or we totally suck.

Caught in the Act!

Miss Leyba helps herself to a snack.

And then there she goes…

“Sharing” (i.e. force feeding?!) the snack with her friend!

They were all so good natured about it.

Aren’t they all so cute?! And they play so nicely together. We’re so lucky to have found such a great and diverse group of mamas and babies.

Miss Leyba loves to feed David and I too. She also is excellent at holding straws and cooling off food by blowing on it before insisting we eat it.

She’s all about making sure we eat right.

I can’t imagine where she picked that up.

Clears throat. Ahem.

Beach shenanigans

Earlier this month (wow, I am so behind!) friends from Germany visited us! We did a whirlwind town, winery and beach tour. Miss Leyba was teething and sleep deprived the whole time (i.e. David and I were short on sleep too!), but Stefan and Sandra were so cheery despite the nearly constant baby whining and crying (poor girl!). We had a great time and they were fantastic with her.

(By the way, she’s since popped 4 teeth! Our smiley and happy baby is back! THANK GOODNESS!)

Here are some photos from our excursion to the very windy coast, including a quick story that will make you smile.

Fascinated by the items that washed up on shore:

Blatantly ignoring the Do Not Climb signs on the rocky pier:

Beach shenanigans trying to crack Miss Leyba up:

How can he jump so high, Daddy?

And then the downside to beach acrobatics:

You never know when your stylish, European pants might rip!

Thanks for the great visit, guys! We loved spending time with you.
