Oh, the Energy! Yeah, I’m Eating Meat Now.

If you had told me a year ago that I would be eating meat, I would have laughed in your face. I’ve been a vegetarian for almost all of my life. My husband and I met because we were vegetarians (thrust together at one end of the table at Thanksgiving dinner nine years ago).

Yet here we are, hoping to stay pregnant (when we start trying again in the future!), and so after decades of vegetarianism, I’m eating meat. Not just any meat, but red meat.

Frequently.

Lamb kabobs,
lentil soup with bone broth,
french onion soup,
lamb patties,
turkey sausage…

The list goes on.

I don’t particularly like its taste yet, but my body evidently adores when I consume it: within hours of eating meat, I feel incredible! (Dammit!)

I have energy! Stamina!
I become oh-so productive!

Who needs caffeine?! I’m eating meat!

I find it truly astonishing, and makes me think I will probably be an omnivore for the rest of my life.

My sister just texted me, “I want to officially welcome you to the dark side!” Oh, geez. I’m no longer a vegetarian… but I feel great!

  1. I’m sorry it’s conflicted, but I’m glad you’re enjoying the effects of meat-eating. Here’s to a healthy omnivore body and womb!

  2. Its truly amazing to witness this process! Luckily we live in a place where we can get ethically, humanely and environmentally gently raised livestock. (Is that too Portlandia???)

  3. I just went from 100% raw vegan to eating eggs, raw goat/sheep dairy and seafood/fish. My energy level, stamina, mood and productivity all went up almost instantly, and I don’t feel hungry all of the time anymore and I’m healing more rapidly. I’ve been reading a lot of Weston Price, and also some anthropomorphic texts and some paleo stuff. Part of me is sad that vegan isn’t the healthiest thing ever, but mostly I’m glad that I was open enough to explore because damn, I feel so much better. I’ve also been learning about the benefits of colostrum and PRPs (google this with underground wellness to find an informative podcast)… there’s ever so much to nutrition and no two bodies are quite alike. Good luck in your quest and thanks for sharing your experience, everyone benefits!
